NEW! Retail Tenant Guide

We now have a comprehensive Retail Tenant Guide! The Melrose Arts District (BID) created this resource packet to walk you through what to expect from first learning about the BID, through signing a lease, permitting, build-out, and day-to-day operations once you’re open. It covers key City agencies, required approvals, common pitfalls to watch for before you sign, and who to contact when questions come up.

Spotlight Business:
Eighty Eight Studios LA

Eighty Eight Studios LA was founded by professional dancers and choreographers Caoife Coleman and Nick Gilligan, who together have spent nearly two decades working at the highest levels of the entertainment industry. Throughout their careers, they’ve performed on some of the biggest stages in music, television, and film.

Nick has danced for artists including Whitney Houston, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and Gwen Stefani, while Caoife appeared in a principal role in the film The Greatest Showman and has performed with artists such as Nicole Scherzinger, Meghan Trainor, will.i.am, and Rita Ora featuring Chris Brown, among many other UK and US performers. Both have also worked extensively across commercials, television shows, and major live events including award shows like the Grammys and MTV Awards. After many years performing around the world, they began transitioning more into choreography, creative direction, and movement coaching for artists.

Since opening, the studio has grown into a hub for dancers of all levels — from beginners discovering dance for the first time to professional dancers actively working in the industry. Nick and Caoife continue to teach regularly while also choreographing, coaching artists, and building opportunities for dancers to connect with the entertainment industry.

They’re thrilled to join the Melrose community and look forward to collaborating with neighboring businesses, hosting classes and events, and continuing to grow the vibrant creative community that Eighty Eight Studios has become known for.
