About Us
Meet the Melrose Arts District

The Melrose Arts District is managed by the Melrose Avenue Business Improvement District, a 10-year property based district formed by a vote of the commercial property owners that assess themselves for its cost of operation.
Some 186 properties are included, and it’s managed by a non-profit corporation in contract with the City. The BID proactively works to revitalize and enhance the commercial vitality of Melrose Avenue between Highland and Fairfax Avenues by providing improvements and activities such as ambassador, security, and parking services; landscape, sanitation, and beautification services; marketing and promotions; new business attraction; and policy advocacy on behalf of its stakeholders.
Melrose BID Vision
The Melrose BID effectively began operations to revitalize and redefine the commercial district located between Fairfax and Highland Avenues in March, 2013. Its goal was business revitalization. Its vision was to create a unique and distinct place within Greater Los Angeles’ urban fabric in which visitors, neighbors, business owners, and property owners could come together to engage in creative expression and commerce.
This Vision sees Melrose as:
- A comfortable place to walk;
- A vibrant place to experience culture;
- A distinct, recognizable place to be and be seen;
- A unique place for one-of-a-kind shopping — “unique, independent, and alternative;”
- An easy place to do business; and,
- At one with its contiguous neighborhoods and residents
