Melrose Street Art Tour with An Artist

Overview: This 1.5 hour tour will take you along Melrose and through the side streets and back alleys where all the classic, most ‘grammable pieces reside (think Butterfly Ladies by @punkmetender, Angel Wings by @colettemillerwings, Tupac by @alex_ali_gonzalez). Check out well-known pieces by your favorite artists—including CBS Crew, David Flores, Alec Monopoly, Insa or Andre—and snap some amazing photos along the way! Melrose Avenue, from Fairfax to Highland, is celebrated world-wide for its incredible street art scene.

Whether it’s on walls, electric utility boxes, back alleyways or in store windows and galleries, Melrose Avenue’s art inspires, excites and stimulates the senses. The mile and a half stretch of Melrose known as the Melrose Arts District, from Fairfax to Highland, is home to an ever-changing selection of visually arresting art pieces painted by some of the world’s most renowned street artists.

Mr. Felix, one of the area’s preeminent artists, is leading a very special art tour experience. Long a part of Melrose’s art scene, he’ll explore world-famous Melrose Ave through its murals and the stories behind them. On this tour, we’ll dig into street art culture while hearing the behind-the-scenes stories that have shaped this one-of-a-kind district. You’ll hear about the individual pieces from the artist’s perspective and find out how the art is created.

The Melrose Arts District Street Art Walking tour is led by renowned street artist, Mr. Felix (IG: Felixstdesign) who has been painting in the Melrose area for years, and me, an art lover. We’re excited to be able to provide background on the art everyone loves on Melrose. And according to Mr. Felix, “I love seeing others get inspired about art and design as much as I do and this is why I’m looking forward to co-hosting this tour,” he says. “Coming from a graffiti / street art background and having created art for many galleries, clients and building owners, I’ve realized that art should be a reflection of you and the space it is in. That’s why the art on Melrose Ave. is so special. It reflects the soul and spirit of so many artists who love to paint in this unique environment.”
