Stocking Stuffers For Everyone: Fa La La La Melrose

It’s beginning to look a lot like the holidays, and if you’re out to find fun small gifts for every man, woman, and child on your list – and of course, the ultimate in stocking stuffers, then Melrose Ave. has them all. Here’s a round-up of the perfect toys for all your favorite boys and girls.

One of the most popular items this year, according to staff member Michelle, are small figurines in Blind Boxes. “Our blind box toys are usually around $10, and have a variety of fun shapes. We also have enamel pins with cute characters of all kinds, from pandas and cats to little food characters such as a Ramen bowl with a face on it.” She notes that stickers, plushies, and squishies are also very popular to fill those stockings with fun.

At this one-of-a-kind jewelry and art shop, there are plenty of beautiful rings, bracelets, and necklaces that make either great gifts or exquisite stocking stuffers. Store staffer, Jette, remarks, “One of our best-selling items this season are crystals, which are very reasonably priced; we also have wrap bracelets with little beads on them which make a terrific stocking stuffer.” Incense of all varieties is also popular.

What doesn’t Necroromance sell? While many items are large vintage signature pieces that just won’t fit in a stocking, there are plenty of fun small gifts around. “We have stork scissors, pewter anatomically correct heart key chains and fox tail key chains,” staff member Jackie relates. “The heart key chains are really popular.” Sounds like a great way to make your “heartthrob” carry the key to your heart.

The big hit at New Profanity this year is Swearing Pens, owner Natasha Polhamus reports. Less scatological but equally cool are handmade scrunchies, a wide selection of pins, and stamped, personalized brass rings. “You can have whatever you want stamped on them,” she says. “Some say things like Tacos, some say Christmas.” Or how about buying both, because nothing says the holidays in LA like tacos and Christmas.

Don’t forget your canine friends – who may very well have their own stockings – or the pup-lover in your family. At Orange Bone, store staff member, Alex, attests that jeweled and studded dog collars and charms to put on those collars make great stocking stuffers. “The charms are essentially for protection and well-being for your dog; and collars come with everything from glittery styles to skulls.”

There are plenty of toys and trinkets to fill all those stockings at Spitfire Girl, where everything from holiday ornaments to a kitschy toy light-up lamp from Christmas Story is available. “Our funny BandAids which you can get with a unicorn theme, and Bob Ross Bobble Head Dolls are also big hits,” says store rep Melissa Concepcion.
